Cover art that works as a thumbnail
Square, at least 800×800. SoundCloud asks for square artwork of at least 800×800 pixels. 1400×1400 gives extra detail on large screens and in the full-screen player.
Seen mostly as a thumbnail. In feeds, playlists and search the artwork is small. A bold image and a short title or artist name in large letters work better than detailed text.
Keep it under 2 MB. SoundCloud’s image limit is 2 MB. A 1400×1400 JPG is normally well below; if not, compress it to 1 MB.
