Why choose 2400×2400?

2400×2400 gives a square canvas with a 1:1 ratio and 5.76 MP of detail. People most often need it for high-resolution product photos, covers and prints.

▢

1:1 square shape

The square (1:1) proportion decides how your photo is framed: plan the subject around that shape before you crop.

🎯

Where it is used

2400×2400 suits high-resolution product photos, covers and prints. Using the exact size avoids a website scaling or cropping your image on its own.

🖨

Prints 8×8 in at 300 DPI

That is 20.3×20.3 cm at photo quality, or 16×16 in at 150 DPI for posters viewed from a distance.

💾

About 900 KB–1.8 MB as JPG

Expect around 900 KB–1.8 MB for a JPG photo at this size. Simple graphics are smaller, PNG photos several times larger.

✨

Sharp results

A 12 MP phone photo has 2.1× more pixels than 2400×2400, so resizing down keeps it sharp.

✂

Framing control

Filling 2400×2400 from a 4:3 phone photo trims about 25% of it. Drag the preview to choose what stays, or tick “Keep aspect ratio” to keep it all.

Printing at 8×8 inches

The maths. Print quality is described in dots per inch. 300 DPI is the usual target for photo prints viewed up close. 8 inches × 300 = 2400, so a 2400×2400 file prints an 8×8 inch square at full quality.

Setting the DPI tag. Pixels are what matter; the DPI number stored in the file is only a hint. Most print services read the pixel count and print at the size you order. If yours insists on a 300 DPI tag, set it in their upload tool or your photo editor.

Leave bleed. Printers trim the edge. If your service asks for 0.125 inch bleed, the full file should be 8.25 inches — 2475 pixels. Keep text and faces well inside the edge.

Other sizes at 300 DPI. 6 inches is 1800 pixels, 10 inches is 3000 (see 3000×3000), and 1 inch is 300 (see 1×1 inch).

Format. High-quality JPG or PNG. Avoid heavy compression for print — artefacts that are invisible on screen can show on paper.

Frequently asked questions

What size is 2400×2400 pixels in inches?

8×8 inches at 300 DPI, 12×12 inches at 200 DPI, or about 33×33 inches at 72 DPI. For printed photos, 300 DPI is the standard, so 8×8 inches is the realistic high-quality print size.

What aspect ratio is 2400×2400?

2400×2400 has a square (1:1) aspect ratio. Any size with the same ratio — for example 2500×2500, 2048×2048 — can be scaled to it without cropping.

How big will a 2400×2400 image print?

At 300 DPI (photo quality) 2400×2400 prints at 8×8 inches (20.3×20.3 cm). At 150 DPI it covers 16×16 inches, fine for posters seen from further away.

How large is a 2400×2400 file?

A photo at 2400×2400 is usually 900 KB–1.8 MB as a JPG, and about 630 KB–1.2 MB as WebP. If you need it smaller, run it through the compressor afterwards.

Will my photo lose quality at 2400×2400?

No — a normal phone photo is much larger, so it is scaled down and stays sharp.

Can I resize to 2400×2400 without cropping?

Yes. Tick “Keep aspect ratio”: the whole picture is kept, but one side may come out shorter than 2400×2400. Without it, the image fills 2400×2400 exactly and the edges that do not fit the 1:1 shape are trimmed.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted or stored, and you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
