Instagram Landscape Resizer

Instagram accepts wide photos up to 1.91:1. This page resizes your landscape, group or panorama shot to 1080×566 so Instagram does not crop it further. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Need a smaller file instead? Compress or convert.

Getting the Instagram landscape post right

Landscape posts let wide scenes breathe, but Instagram stops at 1.91:1. Resizing to exactly that shape keeps you in control of the crop.

Centre shows on the grid

The 3:4 grid thumbnail keeps only the middle of the photo.

📏

Shorter in the feed

Wide posts take less space — use them when the width matters.

When to post wide on Instagram

The widest Instagram allows. Anything wider than 1.91:1 is cropped by Instagram. At 1080×566 your photo is exactly at that limit, so you decide what is trimmed, not the app.

Wide posts are small on phones. A landscape post takes much less height in the feed than a portrait, so use it when the scene needs the width — a skyline, a team photo, a product range — not for a single subject.

The grid shows the middle. The 3:4 profile grid keeps only the centre of a wide post. Put the main subject in the middle so the thumbnail still makes sense.

Frequently asked questions

What size is a landscape Instagram post?

1080×566 pixels, a 1.91:1 ratio. Wider images are cropped by Instagram.

Why does Instagram crop my panorama?

Instagram cannot show anything wider than 1.91:1. Resize to 1080×566 to choose the crop yourself, or split a panorama across a carousel.

Do landscape posts get less reach?

They take less room in the feed, which can mean fewer people notice them. Portrait posts usually catch more attention.

Is 1080×566 the same as 1200×628?

Both are about 1.91:1. 1080 px wide is Instagram’s width; 1200×628 is common on Facebook and LinkedIn.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted or stored, and you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
