Resize Image to 1080×1350
1080×1350 is Instagram's 4:5 portrait post — the tallest shape the feed shows without cropping, which means more screen space for your photo than a square or landscape post. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Need a smaller file instead? Compress or convert.
Drag the preview to choose which part of the image is kept. The same framing is used for every image in the batch.
Why choose 1080×1350?
At 1080×1350 pixels, an image holds 1.46 megapixels in a portrait 4:5. It is a common choice for portrait (4:5) Instagram feed posts.
4:5 portrait shape
Every 1080×1350 image has a portrait 4:5 ratio, so anything you design for it keeps the same proportions on every screen.
The exact size needed
1080×1350 is the exact size for portrait (4:5) Instagram feed posts, so your image is shown as-is instead of being re-scaled or cropped by the platform.
Prints 3.6×4.5 in at 300 DPI
That is 9.1×11.4 cm at photo quality, or 7.2×9 in at 150 DPI for posters viewed from a distance.
About 230 KB–460 KB as JPG
A typical photo at 1080×1350 saves to roughly 230 KB–460 KB at good JPG quality; WebP is usually 25–35% smaller.
Sharp results
A 12 MP phone photo has 8.4× more pixels than 1080×1350, so resizing down keeps it sharp.
Framing control
Filling 1080×1350 from a 3:4 phone photo trims about 6% of it. Drag the preview to choose what stays, or tick “Keep aspect ratio” to keep it all.

Getting a 4:5 portrait post right
Why 4:5. In the feed, a 4:5 portrait occupies more of the phone screen than a 1:1 square. More screen means more attention as people scroll, which is why so many photographers post in this shape.
Crop first. Vertical phone photos are 3:4, slightly taller than 4:5, so a thin strip needs to come off the top or bottom. Landscape photos lose a lot of width. Use the cropper at 4:5 to choose the frame, then resize here to exactly 1080×1350.
Profile grid. Instagram's profile grid shows posts as tall rectangles, so your 4:5 image may be trimmed slightly at the top and bottom there. Keep faces and text away from those edges.
Upload quality. Instagram re-compresses every upload. Starting from exactly 1080 wide avoids an extra resize step on their side. Keep files under a few megabytes and in sRGB colour.
Carousels. All images in a carousel use the first image's shape. Make every slide 1080×1350 to avoid unexpected crops.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best Instagram post size?
For maximum feed space, 1080×1350 pixels (4:5 portrait). Square 1080×1080 and landscape 1080×566 are also supported. Instagram's layouts change from time to time, so check how posts display in both the feed and the profile grid.
What aspect ratio is 1080×1350?
1080×1350 has a portrait 4:5 aspect ratio. Images with a different shape have to be cropped or padded to fit it.
How big will a 1080×1350 image print?
At 300 DPI (photo quality) 1080×1350 prints at 3.6×4.5 inches (9.1×11.4 cm). At 150 DPI it covers 7.2×9 inches, fine for posters seen from further away.
How large is a 1080×1350 file?
A photo at 1080×1350 is usually 230 KB–460 KB as a JPG, and about 160 KB–320 KB as WebP. If you need it smaller, run it through the compressor afterwards.
Will my photo lose quality at 1080×1350?
No — a normal phone photo is much larger, so it is scaled down and stays sharp.
Can I resize to 1080×1350 without cropping?
Yes. Tick “Keep aspect ratio”: the whole picture is kept, but one side may come out shorter than 1080×1350. Without it, the image fills 1080×1350 exactly and the edges that do not fit the 4:5 shape are trimmed.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted or stored, and you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
