What is a JPG file?
JPG stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group. JPG is the most widely supported image format in existence. It uses lossy compression, discarding detail the eye is unlikely to notice in order to produce a much smaller file.
JPG cannot store transparency, and repeatedly re-saving a JPG degrades it a little each time.
What is a PDF file?
PDF stands for Portable Document Format. PDF is a document format rather than an image format. It keeps its layout identically on every device, which is why it is the standard for anything that will be printed, emailed or filed.
A PDF is heavier than a plain image and cannot be edited as easily.
