How to convert to ICO
This page converts any supported image into ICO. ICO is the container Windows and web browsers use for icons. A favicon — the small image beside a page title in a browser tab — is normally an ICO file.
- Click the Choose Files button and select any images you want as ICO.
- ICO is already selected. Change it on any individual file if you want a mixed batch.
- Click Convert, then download your ICO files individually or as a ZIP.
Anything into ICO
JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP and TIFF can all be turned into ICO here, in a single batch if you like, with no limit on how many files you drop in.
Keep the quality
Adjust quality per file and resize on the way through. Formats without transparency get a clean white matte instead of the black edges most converters leave behind.
Nothing is uploaded
Your files are read and written by your own browser. They are never sent to a server, so there is nothing to delete afterwards and no size or file-count limit.
More image tools
Three separate tools, all running the same way — entirely inside your browser, with nothing uploaded.
The compressor is the one to use when you want a smaller file without changing its format — it can hit an exact target file size, which the converter cannot. The resizer handles exact dimensions and ready-made presets for Instagram and YouTube, including common sizes like 1920×1080 and 1080×1080.
A few things are built into this converter and need no separate tool:
- Compress without converting — pick the same format as your input and lower the quality slider to shrink a file while keeping its type.
- Resize — open the gear on any file and set a maximum width; the height follows automatically.
- Images to PDF — choose PDF as the output to turn a photo or scan into a document.
- Make a favicon — choose ICO as the output to produce a browser icon from any square image.
What is a ICO file?
ICO stands for Icon. ICO is the container Windows and web browsers use for icons. A favicon — the small image beside a page title in a browser tab — is normally an ICO file.
It is only meant for small square icons and has no use as a general image format.
Converters by format
Every conversion into a single format, on one page:
Making a favicon
Nearly everyone converting to ICO wants a favicon — the small icon shown in a browser tab, in bookmarks, and in browser history. Start from a square source of at least 256×256 pixels; a non-square image gets padded or cropped, and a small source produces a blurry icon once scaled down.
ICO is a container format that can hold several resolutions in a single
file, which is why it remains the standard for a site's /favicon.ico.
Transparency carries across fully, so a logo on a transparent background
stays that way against both light and dark browser themes. Keep the design
simple — detail finer than a single bold shape disappears entirely at
16 pixels, the size most browsers actually display.

Frequently asked questions
What can I convert to ICO?
JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP and TIFF can all be converted to ICO on this page. Drop in a mixed batch and they will all come out as ICO.
Is there a limit on file size or how many files I can convert?
No. Conversion runs inside your browser rather than on a server, so there is no upload, no queue and no cap.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your files are read and written by your own browser and never leave your device. You can disconnect from the internet once the page has loaded and the converter will still work.
