Resize Image to 1200×630
1200×630 is the Open Graph image size — the picture shown when your link is shared on Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack, Discord and messaging apps. Getting it right makes links look deliberate. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Need a smaller file instead? Compress or convert.
Drag the preview to choose which part of the image is kept. The same framing is used for every image in the batch.
Why choose 1200×630?
1200×630 gives a landscape canvas with a 1.9:1 ratio and 0.76 MP of detail. People most often need it for link previews (Open Graph) on Facebook, LinkedIn and X.
1.9:1 landscape shape
Every 1200×630 image has a 1.9:1 ratio, so anything you design for it keeps the same proportions on every screen.
The exact size needed
1200×630 is the exact size for link previews (Open Graph) on Facebook, LinkedIn and X, so your image is shown as-is instead of being re-scaled or cropped by the platform.
Prints 4×2.1 in at 300 DPI
That is 10.2×5.3 cm at photo quality, or 8×4.2 in at 150 DPI for posters viewed from a distance.
About 120 KB–240 KB as JPG
Expect around 120 KB–240 KB for a JPG photo at this size. Simple graphics are smaller, PNG photos several times larger.
Sharp results
A 12 MP phone photo has 16× more pixels than 1200×630, so resizing down keeps it sharp.
Framing control
Filling 1200×630 from a 4:3 phone photo trims about 30% of it. Drag the preview to choose what stays, or tick “Fit whole image inside instead of cropping” to keep it all.

Making an Open Graph image that previews well
This page opens on the exact-size preset, which covers 1200×630 and trims the overflow so the file is always exactly the right size.
How it gets used. Add the file to your page with an
og:image meta tag. When someone shares the URL, platforms fetch
it and show it as the preview card. Most crop or scale the image to around
1.91:1 — which is what 1200×630 is.
Design for small. Preview cards are often shown at 500 pixels wide or less, and some apps crop to a square. Keep a headline large and central, and avoid text near the edges.
File size and format. JPG or PNG, ideally under a few hundred kilobytes so crawlers fetch it quickly. Use the compressor if it is heavy.
Cache. Platforms cache preview images. If you replace the image, use each platform's debugger or change the file name so the new one is fetched.
X / Twitter uses the same shape for large summary cards.
Close variant: 1200×628 for ad specs. Other social sizes: 1080×1080, 1080×1350.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best Open Graph image size?
1200×630 pixels (about 1.91:1) is the widely recommended size. It displays sharply on high-resolution screens and fits the preview cards used by Facebook, LinkedIn and most messaging apps. Keep important content away from the edges in case of cropping.
What aspect ratio is 1200×630?
1200×630 has a 1.9:1 aspect ratio. Images with a different shape have to be cropped or padded to fit it.
How big will a 1200×630 image print?
At 300 DPI (photo quality) 1200×630 prints at 4×2.1 inches (10.2×5.3 cm). At 150 DPI it covers 8×4.2 inches, fine for posters seen from further away.
How large is a 1200×630 file?
A photo at 1200×630 is usually 120 KB–240 KB as a JPG, and about 83 KB–170 KB as WebP. If you need it smaller, run it through the compressor afterwards.
Will my photo lose quality at 1200×630?
No — a normal phone photo is much larger, so it is scaled down and stays sharp.
Can I resize to 1200×630 without cropping?
Yes. Tick “Fit whole image inside instead of cropping”: the whole picture is kept, but one side may come out shorter than 1200×630. Without it, the image fills 1200×630 exactly and the edges that do not fit the 1.9:1 shape are trimmed.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted or stored, and you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
