5 cm vs 2 inches
At 300 DPI, 5×5 cm is 591 × 591 pixels.
Nearly — but not exactly — 2×2 inches. Two inches is 5.08 cm. For a US passport or visa, use the exact 2×2 inch size (600×600 px). For forms that ask for 5×5 cm, stick with 5×5.
Written in millimetres? Some forms say 50×50 mm — the same size; see the 50×50 mm page.
Square prints. 5×5 cm also makes neat stickers and small gift prints. Keep the subject away from the corners if they will be rounded.
