Facebook Story Resizer

Facebook Stories fill the whole phone screen. This page resizes your image to 1080×1920 (9:16) so it covers the screen without black bars or awkward crops. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Need a smaller file instead? Compress or convert.

Getting the Facebook story right

A story is full-screen and vertical, with interface elements on top. The right size avoids bars, and the safe zones keep your message clear of the buttons.

📱

Full screen, 9:16

Fills the phone without black bars.

⚠

Busy top and bottom

Leave about 250 px at each end free of text.

🔁

Shared size

Same as Instagram Stories, WhatsApp Status and TikTok.

⏰

Gone in 24 hours

Stories disappear after a day — great for quick updates and offers.

💾

About 320 KB–650 KB as JPG

A typical photo at 1080×1920 saves to roughly 320 KB–650 KB at good quality — well within the upload limit.

✂

You choose the crop

Filling 1080×1920 from a 3:4 phone photo trims about 25% of it. Drag the preview to choose what stays, or tick the fit option to keep everything.

Designing around the story buttons

The top and bottom are busy. Your name and progress bar sit at the top of a story, and the reply box and reactions at the bottom. Keep roughly the top and bottom 14% (about 250 pixels each) free of text and faces.

Landscape photos lose a lot. From a wide photo only a narrow upright slice fits 9:16. Drag the frame onto the subject, or tick the fit option to show the whole photo with coloured bands above and below.

One size for many apps. 1080×1920 is also the size of Instagram Stories, WhatsApp Status and TikTok, so one image can be shared everywhere.

Frequently asked questions

What size is a Facebook story?

1080×1920 pixels (9:16). Keep text and faces out of the top and bottom 250 pixels or so, where Facebook places its buttons.

Why does Facebook add bars to my story?

Because the photo is not 9:16. Resizing it to 1080×1920 first makes it fill the screen.

Can I post a horizontal photo as a story?

Yes, but only a vertical slice fits the screen. Choose the slice here, or keep the whole picture with the fit option.

Is a Facebook story the same size as a Reel?

Yes — both are 1080×1920. For an Instagram version see the Instagram Story resizer.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted or stored, and you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
