Instagram Post Resizer
Instagram’s profile grid now shows posts as tall 3:4 rectangles. This page resizes your photo to 1080×1440, so it looks the same in the feed and on your grid. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Need a smaller file instead? Compress or convert.
Drag the preview to choose which part of the image is kept. The same framing is used for every image in the batch.
Getting the Instagram post right
With the profile grid now in 3:4, a 1080×1440 post is the one shape that looks identical in the feed and on your profile.
Matches the grid
The profile grid shows 3:4 thumbnails — this size fills them exactly.
Tallest feed post
1440 px high is the maximum Instagram accepts for feed posts.
Phone photos fit
Most phone cameras shoot 3:4, so there is nothing to crop.
1080 px wide
The width Instagram keeps — larger images are scaled down anyway.
About 240 KB–490 KB as JPG
A typical photo at 1080×1440 saves to roughly 240 KB–490 KB at good quality — well within the upload limit.
You choose the crop
A 3:4 phone photo already has this shape, so almost nothing is cut.

Posting for the new 3:4 grid
The grid changed shape. Instagram’s profile grid used to show square thumbnails; it now shows every post as a 3:4 rectangle. A square post therefore loses its sides on the grid, and a 4:5 post loses a little at the top and bottom.
3:4 fits both. At 1080×1440 the post fills the feed at the maximum height Instagram allows and matches the grid thumbnail exactly, so nothing you planned is cut off.
Straight from your phone. Most phone cameras already shoot 3:4, so a normal photo only needs resizing, not cropping. Use the grid maker if you want to split one big picture across several posts.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best Instagram post size now?
1080×1440 pixels (3:4). It is the tallest size Instagram accepts and matches the 3:4 profile grid, so the post is not cropped on your profile.
Should I post 4:5 or 3:4 on Instagram?
Both are shown in full in the feed. 3:4 also fills the new profile grid exactly; 4:5 loses a thin strip at the top and bottom of the grid thumbnail.
Why are my square posts cropped on my profile?
The profile grid now shows 3:4 rectangles, so square posts are trimmed at the sides in the grid view (they are still shown in full in the feed).
What is the maximum Instagram post size?
1080 pixels wide and up to 1440 pixels tall (3:4). Wider or taller images are scaled or cropped.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted or stored, and you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
