Shopify Hero Image Resizer
The hero or slideshow image is the big banner at the top of your Shopify homepage. This page resizes it to 2000×800, a wide 2.5:1 shape that suits most themes. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Need a smaller file instead? Compress or convert.
Drag the preview to choose which part of the image is kept. The same framing is used for every image in the batch.
Getting the Shopify hero image right
The hero banner is the first impression of your store. A wide, light image that leaves space for the theme’s text works best.

A homepage banner that loads fast
Theme-dependent. Shopify themes show hero and slideshow images at different heights, typically between about 2:1 and 3:1. 2000×800 (2.5:1) sits in the middle and works well in most themes; check your theme’s settings for the exact height.
Text-safe centre. Themes place headings and buttons on top of the image, and phones crop the sides. Keep the subject in the centre and leave calm areas for text.
Keep it light. The hero is the first thing to load. Aim for a few hundred KB — use compress to 500 KB if needed.

Frequently asked questions
What size should a Shopify hero or slideshow image be?
It depends on the theme; around 2000×800 (2.5:1) works in most. Keep it under about 500 KB for speed.
Why is my Shopify banner cropped on mobile?
Phones show a narrower slice. Keep the subject in the centre, or set a separate mobile image if your theme supports it.
What is the best Shopify slideshow size?
Around 2000 px wide and 800–1000 px tall, depending on the theme height.
Does Shopify compress hero images?
Shopify serves resized versions, but a light original still loads faster.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted or stored, and you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
