Resize Image to 900×900
900×900 is a generous square that still loads quickly — sharper than a 700 in a wide column, lighter than the 1080 used for Instagram. Some themes and gallery plugins use it as their default. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Need a smaller file instead? Compress or convert.
Drag the preview to choose which part of the image is kept. The same framing is used for every image in the batch.
Why choose 900×900?
900×900 is a square image of 810,000 pixels (0.81 megapixels) in a square (1:1), mostly used for social posts and product photos.
1:1 square shape
The square (1:1) proportion decides how your photo is framed: plan the subject around that shape before you crop.
Where it is used
900×900 suits social posts and product photos. Using the exact size avoids a website scaling or cropping your image on its own.
Prints 3×3 in at 300 DPI
That is 7.6×7.6 cm at photo quality, or 6×6 in at 150 DPI for posters viewed from a distance.
About 130 KB–250 KB as JPG
A typical photo at 900×900 saves to roughly 130 KB–250 KB at good JPG quality; WebP is usually 25–35% smaller.
Sharp results
A 12 MP phone photo has 15× more pixels than 900×900, so resizing down keeps it sharp.
Framing control
Filling 900×900 from a 4:3 phone photo trims about 25% of it. Drag the preview to choose what stays, or tick “Keep aspect ratio” to keep it all.

Choosing 900×900 for galleries and posts
Galleries and lightboxes. Grid galleries often show thumbnails small and open a larger view on click. A 900-pixel square fills most laptop lightboxes without being oversized, and keeps page weight reasonable when a gallery has dozens of images.
Square social posts. Facebook, LinkedIn and most forums display squares well below 900 pixels, so this is more than enough. For Instagram, the platform's reference is 1080 wide — use 1080×1080 there.
Print? Only small. At 300 DPI, 900 pixels prints 3 inches across. For anything larger, see 2400×2400.
Aspect first. If the source is not square, crop it with the cropper before resizing so nothing is stretched.
Lighter files. Expect roughly 90–200 KB as JPG. WebP via JPG to WebP often cuts that by a quarter or more.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between 900×900 and 1080×1080 for social media?
Both are square. 1080×1080 matches Instagram's reference width, so it avoids any upscaling there. Most other platforms display squares smaller than 900 pixels, so a 900×900 looks the same and uploads a little faster.
What aspect ratio is 900×900?
900×900 has a square (1:1) aspect ratio. Any size with the same ratio — for example 840×840, 1000×1000 — can be scaled to it without cropping.
How big will a 900×900 image print?
At 300 DPI (photo quality) 900×900 prints at 3×3 inches (7.6×7.6 cm). At 150 DPI it covers 6×6 inches, fine for posters seen from further away.
How large is a 900×900 file?
A photo at 900×900 is usually 130 KB–250 KB as a JPG, and about 89 KB–180 KB as WebP. If you need it smaller, run it through the compressor afterwards.
Will my photo lose quality at 900×900?
No — a normal phone photo is much larger, so it is scaled down and stays sharp.
Can I resize to 900×900 without cropping?
Yes. Tick “Keep aspect ratio”: the whole picture is kept, but one side may come out shorter than 900×900. Without it, the image fills 900×900 exactly and the edges that do not fit the 1:1 shape are trimmed.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted or stored, and you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
