Resize Image to 360×360

360×360 is a square tile size that suits card and grid layouts: app store listing icons, category tiles, dashboard widgets and product grids that show three across on a phone. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Need a smaller file instead? Compress or convert.

Why choose 360×360?

At 360×360 pixels, an image holds 0.13 megapixels in a square (1:1). It is a common choice for profile pictures and small product images.

▢

1:1 square shape

The square (1:1) proportion decides how your photo is framed: plan the subject around that shape before you crop.

🎯

Where it is used

360×360 suits profile pictures and small product images. Using the exact size avoids a website scaling or cropping your image on its own.

🖨

Prints 1.2×1.2 in at 300 DPI

That is 3×3 cm at photo quality, or 2.4×2.4 in at 150 DPI for posters viewed from a distance.

💾

About 20 KB–40 KB as JPG

Expect around 20 KB–40 KB for a JPG photo at this size. Simple graphics are smaller, PNG photos several times larger.

✨

Sharp results

A 12 MP phone photo has 94× more pixels than 360×360, so resizing down keeps it sharp.

✂

Framing control

Filling 360×360 from a 4:3 phone photo trims about 25% of it. Drag the preview to choose what stays, or tick “Keep aspect ratio” to keep it all.

Why 360 keeps turning up

360 is a convenient number in layout terms. It divides evenly by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 12, which means a 360-pixel tile can be split into halves, thirds or quarters without landing on a fractional pixel. Designers working on grid-based layouts reach for it for exactly that reason.

It is also close to the CSS width of a typical phone screen, so a 360-pixel square is roughly \u201cone phone wide\u201d — a full-bleed square card on mobile. That makes it a common export size for card images in apps and email templates.

For a photograph, a 360×360 JPG usually lands between 30KB and 80KB, which is light enough to load several dozen of them in a grid without the page stalling. For flat graphics, icons or anything with text, choose PNG or WebP instead — at this size PNG stays small and keeps the edges clean.

The usual square caveat applies: a landscape source gives up its long edge. Crop the square you want first with the cropper if the subject is off-centre. If you need a larger tile for high-DPI screens, export at 800×800 and let the layout scale it down.

Frequently asked questions

Should I export tiles at 360×360 or larger?

If the tile is displayed at 360 CSS pixels, a high-DPI phone renders it at 720 or more device pixels, so a 360×360 file will look slightly soft. Where file size allows, export at double and let the browser downscale — 720×720 displayed at 360 looks noticeably crisper.

What aspect ratio is 360×360?

360×360 has a square (1:1) aspect ratio. Any size with the same ratio — for example 350×350, 400×400 — can be scaled to it without cropping.

How big will a 360×360 image print?

At 300 DPI (photo quality) 360×360 prints at 1.2×1.2 inches (3×3 cm). At 150 DPI it covers 2.4×2.4 inches, fine for posters seen from further away.

How large is a 360×360 file?

A photo at 360×360 is usually 20 KB–40 KB as a JPG, and about 14 KB–28 KB as WebP. If you need it smaller, run it through the compressor afterwards.

Will my photo lose quality at 360×360?

No — a normal phone photo is much larger, so it is scaled down and stays sharp.

Can I resize to 360×360 without cropping?

Yes. Tick “Keep aspect ratio”: the whole picture is kept, but one side may come out shorter than 360×360. Without it, the image fills 360×360 exactly and the edges that do not fit the 1:1 shape are trimmed.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted or stored, and you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
