Facebook Profile Picture Resizer

Facebook shows your profile picture as a small circle on every post and comment. This page crops your photo to a 320×320 square so the face or logo sits perfectly in that circle. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Need a smaller file instead? Compress or convert.

Getting the Facebook profile photo right

A Facebook profile picture is a square that Facebook crops to a circle and shows at thumbnail size beside everything you post, so framing matters more than resolution.

◯

Cut to a circle

The corners of the square are hidden. Keep the face or logo inside the round area in the middle.

🔍

Shown at thumbnail size

About 170 px on a computer and smaller in the app — bold shapes read better than fine detail.

🏢

Pages use it as the logo

For a business Page the profile picture is your logo, so keep it the same across Facebook and Instagram.

✨

Sharp on every screen

Starting from a large photo and resizing down to 320×320 keeps edges crisp after Facebook compresses it.

💾

About 16 KB–32 KB as JPG

A typical photo at 320×320 saves to roughly 16 KB–32 KB at good quality — well within the upload limit.

✂

You choose the crop

Filling 320×320 from a 3:4 phone photo trims about 25% of it. Drag the preview to choose what stays, or tick the fit option to keep everything.

Make a Facebook profile photo in 3 steps

  1. Add your image — drag it onto the box above, or tap to choose it. Several at once is fine.
  2. The square 320×320 size is already set. Drag the preview so the face or logo is centred, with a little space around it.
  3. Click Resize, download the file, then upload it from your profile or Page: click the profile picture › Choose profile picture.

Designing for a tiny circle

It is shown small and round. Your picture appears at about 170 pixels on a computer and smaller still in the app, next to every comment you write. Facebook cuts it to a circle, so the four corners of your square are never seen.

Fill the circle. For a portrait, crop from just above the head to the top of the shoulders so the face takes up most of the frame. For a business Page, use the logo mark rather than a long wordmark — text becomes unreadable at comment size.

Bigger is fine, smaller is not. 320×320 is the size Facebook asks for at minimum. If you have a sharp original you can also upload it larger (say 720×720) for high-resolution screens; what matters is the square shape.

Frequently asked questions

What size should a Facebook profile picture be?

Upload a square image of at least 320×320 pixels. Facebook displays it as a circle of roughly 170 pixels on a computer and smaller on phones.

Why does my Facebook profile picture look blurry?

Usually because the original was smaller than 320×320 and Facebook enlarged it, or because it was cropped tightly from a small part of a photo. Start from the largest original you have.

Can I use a rectangle as a Facebook profile picture?

You can upload one, but Facebook makes you crop it to a square and then shows it as a circle. Cropping it yourself first lets you decide exactly what stays in view.

Is the Page logo the same size as a personal profile picture?

Yes. A business Page uses the same square profile picture slot, shown as a circle. Use at least 320×320.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted or stored, and you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
