One style for all. Use the same background, lighting and framing for every collection image so the list looks curated rather than random.

What size should Shopify collection images be?

Is a collection image the same as a product image?
Both are usually square, but a collection image represents a whole category — a group shot or a lifestyle photo works well.
Why is my collection image cropped?
Your theme uses a different shape in that section. Check the theme settings and use a matching size.
Can I use one product photo as the collection image?
Yes, but a group of items or a styled scene shows the range better.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted or stored, and you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
