Resize Image to 200×200
200×200 is a practical all-rounder square: sharp enough for a 100-pixel avatar on a high-DPI screen, and a common minimum for square thumbnails and link previews. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Need a smaller file instead? Compress or convert.
Drag the preview to choose which part of the image is kept. The same framing is used for every image in the batch.
Why choose 200×200?
200×200 gives a square canvas with a 1:1 ratio and 0.04 MP of detail. People most often need it for avatars, icons and thumbnails.
1:1 square shape
The square (1:1) proportion decides how your photo is framed: plan the subject around that shape before you crop.
Where it is used
200×200 suits avatars, icons and thumbnails. Using the exact size avoids a website scaling or cropping your image on its own.
Prints 0.67×0.67 in at 300 DPI
That is 1.7×1.7 cm at photo quality, or 1.3×1.3 in at 150 DPI for posters viewed from a distance.
About 6 KB–12 KB as JPG
Expect around 6 KB–12 KB for a JPG photo at this size. Simple graphics are smaller, PNG photos several times larger.
Sharp results
A 12 MP phone photo has 305× more pixels than 200×200, so resizing down keeps it sharp.
Framing control
Filling 200×200 from a 4:3 phone photo trims about 25% of it. Drag the preview to choose what stays, or tick “Keep aspect ratio” to keep it all.

Why 200×200 is a safe square
It covers 2× displays of 100-pixel slots. Many sites show avatars at around 100 CSS pixels. On a phone or Retina laptop that needs about 200 real pixels, so a 200×200 upload looks crisp where a 100×100 looks soft.
Link-preview minimum. Facebook's sharing debugger has long treated 200×200 as the minimum Open Graph image size. Below that, previews may not show an image at all. It is a floor, not a target — for a proper preview card, 1200×630 is the standard.
Store and catalogue thumbnails. Product grids, recipe cards and author bios often use 200-pixel squares. Keep the subject centred, since some layouts round the corners or crop to a circle.
File size is small. A 200×200 JPG is usually 8–25 KB. If a form has a tight limit, try Compress JPG; to switch format, JPG to WebP saves more.
Crop, then resize. Choose your square with the cropper before resizing so nothing is stretched.

Frequently asked questions
Is 200×200 big enough for a profile picture?
For most sites, yes — it looks sharp in slots up to about 100 CSS pixels, even on high-DPI screens. Platforms that show large profile photos, or that ask for 400×400 or more, will look better with a bigger upload.
What aspect ratio is 200×200?
200×200 has a square (1:1) aspect ratio. Any size with the same ratio — for example 192×192, 184×184 — can be scaled to it without cropping.
How big will a 200×200 image print?
At 300 DPI (photo quality) 200×200 prints at 0.67×0.67 inches (1.7×1.7 cm). At 150 DPI it covers 1.33×1.33 inches, fine for posters seen from further away.
How large is a 200×200 file?
A photo at 200×200 is usually 6 KB–12 KB as a JPG, and about 4 KB–9 KB as WebP. If you need it smaller, run it through the compressor afterwards.
Will my photo lose quality at 200×200?
No — a normal phone photo is much larger, so it is scaled down and stays sharp.
Can I resize to 200×200 without cropping?
Yes. Tick “Keep aspect ratio”: the whole picture is kept, but one side may come out shorter than 200×200. Without it, the image fills 200×200 exactly and the edges that do not fit the 1:1 shape are trimmed.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted or stored, and you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
