About 320 KB–650 KB as JPG

A typical photo at 1920×1080 saves to roughly 320 KB–650 KB at good quality — well within the upload limit.

You choose the crop

Filling 1920×1080 from a 4:3 phone photo trims about 25% of it. Drag the preview to choose what stays, or tick the fit option to keep everything.

Covers for articles and newsletters

Header and preview. The cover sits at the top of the article and is also used for the preview when the article or newsletter edition is shared in the feed, so it is worth getting right.

Leave room for the title. LinkedIn shows the article title as text below the image, so the cover does not need the full headline. A strong photo or simple illustration with, at most, a short keyword reads better.

Newsletters need a logo too. Each newsletter also has a small square logo (300×300). Keep the cover style consistent across editions so subscribers recognise it.

Frequently asked questions

What size is a LinkedIn article cover image?

1920×1080 pixels (16:9) for articles and newsletter editions. JPG or PNG; the title is shown as text below it.

Do LinkedIn newsletters use the same cover size as articles?

Yes, newsletter editions use the same 1920×1080 cover. The newsletter itself also has a 300×300 logo.

Should I put the title on the cover?

LinkedIn already shows the title as text, so a clean image or a short keyword is usually better than repeating it.

Can I reuse a YouTube thumbnail as a LinkedIn cover?

Yes — both are 16:9. Resize it to 1920×1080 here for a sharper header.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted or stored, and you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
