Resize Image to 1400×1400
1400×1400 is the square that podcast directories treat as the minimum for cover art. It is also a general-purpose large square for album art, course covers and high-resolution listing images. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Need a smaller file instead? Compress or convert.
Drag the preview to choose which part of the image is kept. The same framing is used for every image in the batch.
Why choose 1400×1400?
At 1400×1400 pixels, an image holds 1.96 megapixels in a square (1:1). It is a common choice for the minimum podcast-cover size on Apple Podcasts.
1:1 square shape
The square (1:1) proportion decides how your photo is framed: plan the subject around that shape before you crop.
The exact size needed
1400×1400 is the exact size for the minimum podcast-cover size on Apple Podcasts, so your image is shown as-is instead of being re-scaled or cropped by the platform.
Prints 4.67×4.67 in at 300 DPI
That is 11.9×11.9 cm at photo quality, or 9.3×9.3 in at 150 DPI for posters viewed from a distance.
About 310 KB–610 KB as JPG
Expect around 310 KB–610 KB for a JPG photo at this size. Simple graphics are smaller, PNG photos several times larger.
Sharp results
A 12 MP phone photo has 6.2× more pixels than 1400×1400, so resizing down keeps it sharp.
Framing control
Filling 1400×1400 from a 4:3 phone photo trims about 25% of it. Drag the preview to choose what stays, or tick “Keep aspect ratio” to keep it all.

Podcast cover art at 1400×1400
Podcast platforms publish a size range rather than a single number — 1400×1400 as the floor and 3000×3000 as the ceiling is the long-standing convention. If your artwork is below the floor it may be rejected outright, which is why this specific number matters more than most.
The design constraint is severe, and it has nothing to do with resolution: your cover is browsed at around 55 to 300 pixels in a directory. At 55 pixels, a subtitle is invisible and a detailed illustration is noise. Big type, one idea, strong contrast. Shrink the result to thumbnail size and look at it before you publish — that is the size that decides whether anyone clicks.
Use RGB, not CMYK, and a standard JPG or PNG. Artwork exported from print software in CMYK is a common rejection reason. If you are unsure, run it through this page and pick JPG or PNG as the output — the result will be RGB.
Squaring a non-square source loses the long edge, so if your artwork was designed as a rectangle, rebuild it as a square rather than cropping. Platform requirements change, so check the current specification before submitting. For the upper end of the range, see 3000×3000.
Frequently asked questions
What size does podcast cover art need to be?
Directories generally want a square between 1400×1400 and 3000×3000 pixels, in RGB, as JPG or PNG. 1400×1400 is the usual minimum and anything smaller risks rejection. Check the current requirements for the specific directory before you submit.
What aspect ratio is 1400×1400?
1400×1400 has a square (1:1) aspect ratio. Any size with the same ratio — for example 1500×1500, 1300×1300 — can be scaled to it without cropping.
How big will a 1400×1400 image print?
At 300 DPI (photo quality) 1400×1400 prints at 4.67×4.67 inches (11.9×11.9 cm). At 150 DPI it covers 9.33×9.33 inches, fine for posters seen from further away.
How large is a 1400×1400 file?
A photo at 1400×1400 is usually 310 KB–610 KB as a JPG, and about 210 KB–430 KB as WebP. If you need it smaller, run it through the compressor afterwards.
Will my photo lose quality at 1400×1400?
No — a normal phone photo is much larger, so it is scaled down and stays sharp.
Can I resize to 1400×1400 without cropping?
Yes. Tick “Keep aspect ratio”: the whole picture is kept, but one side may come out shorter than 1400×1400. Without it, the image fills 1400×1400 exactly and the edges that do not fit the 1:1 shape are trimmed.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted or stored, and you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
