Getting the LinkedIn landscape image right

The 1.91:1 landscape is LinkedIn’s original image shape and still the standard for link previews and many ads.

🔗

Link preview size

Shared articles show a full-width 1.91:1 card.

📢

Sponsored content

A standard size for single-image LinkedIn ads.

🎤

Wide scenes

Team photos, stages and panoramas fit naturally.

📏

Short on phones

Keep text big and in the middle.

💾

About 120 KB–240 KB as JPG

A typical photo at 1200×627 saves to roughly 120 KB–240 KB at good quality — well within the upload limit.

✂

You choose the crop

Filling 1200×627 from a 4:3 phone photo trims about 30% of it. Drag the preview to choose what stays, or tick the fit option to keep everything.

When to use the wide format

Link previews. When you share an article, LinkedIn builds the preview card from the page’s social image at 1.91:1. Making that image 1200×627 gives a full-width card instead of a small thumbnail.

Sponsored content. Single-image ads commonly use 1200×627, and it is a safe size for event announcements and wide photos such as team pictures or presentations on stage.

Mind the height. On phones a wide image is short, so keep text large and centred. For maximum feed space, a square post is the better shape.

Frequently asked questions

What size is a LinkedIn landscape image?

1200×627 pixels (1.91:1). It is the standard for wide posts, link previews and single-image sponsored content.

Is 1200×627 the same as 1200×630?

Practically yes — both are 1.91:1 and both work for link previews on LinkedIn and Facebook.

Why does my shared link show a small thumbnail?

The page’s social image is too small or not set. Set a 1200×627 og:image on the page and re-share it.

Is landscape good for LinkedIn posts?

It works, but square and portrait images take more space on phones and often get more attention.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted or stored, and you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
