Resize Image to 1200×800

1200×800 is 3:2, the shape of most DSLR and mirrorless camera photos. It shrinks them for the web without cropping, and is a common image size for blogs, portfolios and property listings. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Need a smaller file instead? Compress or convert.

Why choose 1200×800?

1200×800 is a landscape image of 960,000 pixels (0.96 megapixels) in a 3:2 photo, mostly used for blog images, slides and landscape photos.

▢

3:2 landscape shape

The 3:2 photo proportion decides how your photo is framed: plan the subject around that shape before you crop.

🎯

Where it is used

1200×800 suits blog images, slides and landscape photos. Using the exact size avoids a website scaling or cropping your image on its own.

🖨

Prints 4×2.67 in at 300 DPI

That is 10.2×6.8 cm at photo quality, or 8×5.3 in at 150 DPI for posters viewed from a distance.

💾

About 150 KB–300 KB as JPG

A typical photo at 1200×800 saves to roughly 150 KB–300 KB at good JPG quality; WebP is usually 25–35% smaller.

✨

Sharp results

A 12 MP phone photo has 13× more pixels than 1200×800, so resizing down keeps it sharp.

✂

Framing control

Filling 1200×800 from a 4:3 phone photo trims about 11% of it. Drag the preview to choose what stays, or tick “Keep aspect ratio” to keep it all.

Preparing camera photos at 1200×800

Camera photos scale straight in. A 6000×4000 camera file is 3:2 and resizes directly to 1200×800 with nothing lost at the edges. The file drops from several megabytes to a couple of hundred kilobytes.

Phone photos need a trim. Phones usually shoot 4:3. Crop to 3:2 with the cropper first — it removes about 11% of the height — or use 1200×900 to keep the full frame.

Portfolio and blog use. 1200 pixels wide looks sharp in typical content columns on high-DPI screens and is not so large that pages slow down. Keep each image under about 300 KB; use Compress JPG or WebP.

Protect your work. Portfolio images are easy to lift. A small mark from the watermark tool after resizing deters casual copying.

Portrait shots. For vertical photos, use 800×1200 instead.

Same shape: 600×400, 1500×1000, 150×100.

Frequently asked questions

Is 1200×800 a good size for blog images?

Yes. It is sharp at the width of most content columns, including on high-DPI screens, and it keeps the natural 3:2 shape of camera photos. Compress it to well under 300 KB for fast pages.

What aspect ratio is 1200×800?

1200×800 has a 3:2 photo aspect ratio. Any size with the same ratio — for example 1500×1000, 900×600 — can be scaled to it without cropping.

How big will a 1200×800 image print?

At 300 DPI (photo quality) 1200×800 prints at 4×2.67 inches (10.2×6.8 cm). At 150 DPI it covers 8×5.33 inches, fine for posters seen from further away.

How large is a 1200×800 file?

A photo at 1200×800 is usually 150 KB–300 KB as a JPG, and about 100 KB–210 KB as WebP. If you need it smaller, run it through the compressor afterwards.

Will my photo lose quality at 1200×800?

No — a normal phone photo is much larger, so it is scaled down and stays sharp.

Can I resize to 1200×800 without cropping?

Yes. Tick “Keep aspect ratio”: the whole picture is kept, but one side may come out shorter than 1200×800. Without it, the image fills 1200×800 exactly and the edges that do not fit the 3:2 shape are trimmed.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted or stored, and you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
