Banners on the profile card

The avatar overlaps it. Your round avatar sits over the lower-left part of the banner on the profile card. Keep that area plain and put the interesting part in the centre and right.

Animated banners. Nitro also allows animated GIF banners. For a still banner, a PNG or JPG at 600×240 is light and sharp.

Server banners are different. The banner at the top of a server’s channel list is a 16:9 image; use the server banner resizer for that.

What size is a Discord profile banner?

600×240 pixels (5:2). Profile banners need Nitro; keep the lower left clear for your avatar.

Do I need Nitro for a Discord banner?

Yes, custom profile banners are a Nitro feature. Without Nitro you can choose a banner colour.

Is the server banner the same size?

No, server banners are 16:9 (960×540 minimum). See the server banner resizer.

Why is my banner cropped?

It was not 5:2. Resize it to 600×240 first and choose the crop yourself.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted or stored, and you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
