Resize Image to 1×1 Inch
A 1×1 inch print at 300 DPI is 300×300 pixels. That is the square asked for by some ID and document forms, stamp and sticker printing, and small print inserts. Everything runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded. Need a smaller file instead? Compress or convert.
Drag the preview to choose which part of the image is kept. The same framing is used for every image in the batch.
Why choose 1×1 inch?
A 1×1 inch photo measures 25.4×25.4 mm, 2.54×2.54 cm. It is widely requested for small 1×1 inch ID photos, and prints sharply at 300×300 pixels (300 DPI).
300×300 px at 300 DPI
The pixel size is worked out for you, and the file is saved with 300 DPI so it prints at exactly 1×1 inch.
An official photo size
1×1 inch is the size required for small 1×1 inch ID photos. Always check the latest official rules for background and head size.
70 per A4 sheet
With small gaps, 70 photos fit on one A4 page and 63 on US Letter — handy for printing several copies at home.
1:1 square shape
The square (1:1) proportion decides the framing. Drag the preview so the subject sits where the rules expect it.
About 14 KB–28 KB as JPG
At 300 DPI a 1×1 inch photo is usually 14 KB–28 KB. If a form limits the file size, pair it with the compressor.
Same size, other units
1×1 inch equals 25.4×25.4 mm or 2.54×2.54 cm. Enter whichever unit your instructions use — the result is identical.

Inches, pixels and DPI
An image file has no physical size. It has pixels. Inches only appear when you print, and the conversion is pixels ÷ DPI = inches. So:
- 1×1 inch at 300 DPI = 300×300 pixels (standard print quality)
- 1×1 inch at 600 DPI = 600×600 pixels (high-quality print)
- 1×1 inch at 150 DPI = 150×150 pixels (draft, or viewing at a distance)
This page produces the 300 DPI version, 300×300 pixels, because 300 is the standard assumption for photo and document printing. If your printer or the form you are filling in specifies a different DPI, use the exact dimensions mode and enter the pixel figure from the table above.
One important limitation: this tool sets the pixel dimensions. It does not write a DPI tag into the file metadata. For almost every use that is fine — print software asks you what size to print at, and the pixel count is what determines the quality. But if a form insists the file itself must declare 300 DPI, you will need software that writes that tag, such as GIMP or Photoshop, after resizing here.
For ID photos, check the exact requirement before you submit — many countries specify millimetres rather than inches, and most portals also cap the file size, which the compressor can handle. The same 300×300 pixels described in web terms is on the 300×300 page.
Frequently asked questions
How many pixels is 1×1 inch?
It depends on the DPI. At 300 DPI, the standard for printing, 1×1 inch is 300×300 pixels. At 600 DPI it is 600×600, and at 150 DPI it is 150×150. Multiply the inches by the DPI to get the pixel count.
How many photos of 1×1 inch fit on an A4 page?
About 70 on A4 and 63 on US Letter, leaving 5 mm margins and 3 mm between photos. On 4×6 inch photo paper you can fit 15.
What DPI should a 1×1 inch photo be?
300 DPI is the standard for photo prints and gives 300×300 pixels. Some offices accept 200 DPI (200×200); 600 DPI (600×600) is only needed for very high-quality printing.
What is 1×1 inch in other units?
1×1 inch is 25.4×25.4 mm, 2.54×2.54 cm. Close sizes that are often confused with it: 2.5×2.5 cm, 25×25 mm.
Why does my 1×1 inch print come out the wrong size?
Most printers scale images to “fit page” by default. Choose “actual size” or 100% in the print dialog, and the photo will print at exactly 1×1 inch.
How large is a 1×1 inch photo file?
Usually 14 KB–28 KB as a JPG at 300 DPI. If an online form allows less, reduce it with the compressor — the print size stays the same.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted or stored, and you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
